Update on SENEDIA Internship Program

Thank you to the companies and mentors who hosted interns this past Fall: KMS, PURVIS SYSTEMS, NEQTER, POWERDOCKS/ESOL LLC, TOWN OF MIDDLETOWN, and MARINE ACOUSTICS

Fall 2021 Internship Recap:

14 interns were placed across 6 member companies.  Interns engaged in a myriad of experiences and projects, including CMMC/NIST compliance processes, hardware updates, developed 360 model renderings, developed manuals for human resource procedures, and served as implementation manager for a company-wide software implementation.

What’s next for our Fall interns?

8 of the 14 interns will be graduating in December (less than 4 weeks) with their degree AND industry certifications—and are looking for employment!  3 have already been hired by their internship site for full-time employment!

Our next batch of interns begin January 2022! We’d like to thank the following companies who have already signed on to host an intern this winter: Town of Middletown, NeQter Labs, Innovate Newport, WHOI, MIKEL, Balfour Beaty, and IM Technology LLC.

We are still in need of companies to host an intern in the fields of business, emergency management/logistics, cyber security, engineering (ocean, electrical, aerospace). Please contact Cassandra, cjohns@senedia.org, ASAP for more information!

Update: Your company does not need to host the candidate as an ‘intern’, rather you can ‘hire’ the candidate as an internal temporary employee. SENEDIA would then pay the stipend directly to the company less the $200 company co-share ($1300 in total), instead of SENEDIA directly paying the intern. This is something our member companies, particularly HR/Finance, have pointed out as a reason why they were not able to host an intern in the past.

Direct Placement:

We currently have 15 high-quality veteran candidates who are looking for full-time employment. Several of the candidates hold active security clearances.   If you have roles to fill in business, finance, administrative, engineering or information technology/cyber security positions, please contact Cassandra Johns, cjohns@senedia.org, for more information.
