Congressman Cicilline Joins SENEDIA Members for Breakfast
Congressman David Cicilline (D, RI 1st) joined the SENEDIA membership for a breakfast on Moday April 25, 2011. About 50 people attended the event that was held at the Maintstay Inn in Newport.
The Congressman talked about the importance of the Defense industry to the economy of Rhode Island. He also talked about the National budget and the need for both spending cuts and tax increases, but not to increase the tax burden on the hard-working middle and lower income citizens.
He stressed the importance of small business initiatives, in particular the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer and Research (STTR) programs.
He aso talked about his recent trip to Afghanisan and his interaction with the troops, especially those men and women from Rhode Island.
