SENEDIA Briefs Senior Navy Officials on Educational Initiatives

Rich Talipsky, VP of the SENEDIA Board provided a an overview of Defense industry educational initiatives to Governor Carcieri, VADM McCoy (COMNAVSEA), Rear Admirals Hilarides (PEO Submarines), Johnson (NAVSEA 07), Brown and civilian heads of NUWC on January 8th. This was part of a general discussion between Governor Carcieri and VADM McCoy that revolved around Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and the various programs both the State and Navy are implementing to spark the revolution necessary in maintaining the pipeline for future employees.
Rich provided information on the formation of a SENEDIA Education Committee that is partnering with NUWC to inculcate an interest in our youth (all the way from Pre-K to Baccalaureate) to increase the population of Engineers and Scientist being produced by our educational system. Rich also mentioned the SENEDIA STEM Scholarship initiative.
The brief was well received and went a long way at spreading the word about SENEDIA's value to the local Defense and Homeland Security support businesses to the local and National economies.
